Not only is Farsi civilization one of the oldest civilizations in the world, Iranian literature has also been in existence for over two thousand years. Iranian culture is a mix of Islamic and pre-Islamic cultures.
Farsi literature Farsi literature dating from before the 6th century B.C. has been found in varying forms by Farsi scholars. Because early Farsi literature was usually connected with the Zoroastrians, it was destroyed during the Islamization of Iran. One important aspect of Farsi literature is that most of the information from the country’s medieval period was in the form of poems, including information concerning the sciences as well as literature. This was seen during all of medieval Iran’s dynasties. The most famous poets during this period were Ferdowsi, Daqiqi and Asadi Tusi. Well-known poets and ghazal creators during this time included Sanai, Attar, Anvari, Khaqani Shirvani and Nezami. Farsi literature spread to the west as well as to Central Asia because of its wide literary variety in addition to the substantial intellectual information it provided, which attracted many readers from all over the globe. Even today Farsi literature is considered to be ingenious and talented work and because of this, it is an important component of literature studies in various well-known Universities from West to East.
